Autumn Term Learning

This term in English we will be using the texts ‘Zelda Claw and the Rain Cat’ and ‘How to Play Wizard’s Chess’, as a focus for our writing. We will be using the Talk4Writing scheme to improve sentence complexity (nouns, adjectives, verbs and sentence types). We will also be regularly practicing our spellings of Year 3 and 4 common exception words. In reading we will be reading as a group and in pairs, developing our Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explaining and Sequencing skills.

In Maths we will be focusing on numbers to 10 000. Then we will be moving onto Addition and Subtraction within 10 000 and Multiplication and Division.

In Science we will be learning about The Digestive System where the children will have the opportunity to explore the features, the functions of the digestive system and how all the systems co-operate together to form the digestive system. We will also be learning about the types and functions of teeth and students will have the opportunity to make their own models of the digestive system.

We will be learning about coding, how to stay safe online and then studying questioning in computing.

Our History topic this term is Invasion History. We will be focusing on what happened after the Romans left Britannia, The Anglo-Saxons, The Viking Invasion and The Normans. We will be studying artefacts, analysing poetry and creating a podcast!

Our Geography topic this term will focus on Interconnected World. The children will learn about compass points and four and six-figure grid references. Children will have the opportunity to explore the tropics and the countries, climates and culture of North and South America.
