Year 3

Welcome to Year 3


The children have all settled in well and are looking forward to the year ahead.

In our class we are supported by Mrs Lyall and Mrs Ruddin. 

This term our topics are


We have P.E on a Monday and cricket on a Friday.



Autumn Term Learning


This term in English we will be practising our reading skills and reviewing our phonics to help us become fluent readers.  In writing we will be developing our understanding of sentences and developing our vocabulary through our talk for writing approach. 



In Maths we will be focusing on place value. Then we will be moving onto Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division.


In Science we will be learning about Skeletons and muscular systems. 


We will be learning about coding, how to stay safe online and then studying spreadsheets.   


Our History topic this term is ‘History through the Ages.’ We will be focusing on the stone age. 


Our Geography topic this term will focus on ‘Our Planet and Our World.’


In Art the children will be using a range of techniques and materials that contrast and complement one another. During our Design and Technology sessions children will be learning about fresh food and good food.


We will be taking part in the PSHCE curriculum and completing the topics: ‘Being  

Me in My World’ and ‘Celebrating Difference’.


In R.E. we will be exploring the Hinduism Enquiry and asking, ‘Would celebrating Diwali at home and in the community bring a feeling of belonging to a Hindu child?’ For our Christian enquiry topic the children will be considering and discussing ‘Has Christmas lost its true meaning?’


In PE we will be doing playing a variety of sports and cricket on a Friday.


We will also be exploring Let Your Spirit Fly and the children will be learning the Glockenspiels.
